Tired of expensive meat prices? The PRIME Act can help

June 13, 2023

Roughly 85% of our nation's meat flows through the "Big 4" meat packers. As meat prices rose over 12% from 2021 to 2022 (well above the overall inflation rate), these conglomerates have recorded record profits of 32-91% higher, cementing their monopoly and suppressing smaller, local companies.

The PRIME Act will provide ranchers and famers new opportunities to sell their cattle, reduce burdensome regulations for meat processed in-state, and lower costs for shipping, preparing, and selling meat, producing tangible savings in the grocery store aisle. Food supply will become more resilient, options will increase, and people will have more visibility on where their meat comes from, all without reducing meat quality standards.
