Natural Resources
As an attorney, I fought to return control of natural resources to local entities, not far-away federal bureaucrats. I am honored to serve on the Natural Resources committee to continue this work from the halls of Congress. I also have the privilege of chairing the Subcommittee on Indian and Insular Affairs, working with tribal and territorial leaders on issues important to their communities.

Washington, DC – Today, the House of Representatives passed an amendment offered by Rep. Harriet Hageman to their Interior Appropriations bill which prohibits the finalization and implementation of the draft Resource Management Plan (RMP) revision from the Bureau of Land Management that severely restricts grazing, mining, recreation, and other activities on 3.6 million acres in Wyoming.
If the BLM gets their way, over 2.5 million acres of Wyoming land will be placed off limits for rights-of-way, and prevent 1.8 million acre from being used for energy production, ranching, and recreation.
The BLM was created for a simple purpose: to steward America's land and resources for present and future generations. Yet in recent years, their priority has shifted to preventing Americans from enjoying or using these lands at all. They seek to lock up land for "conservation purposes" without ever stating what the lands are supposed to be conserved for: the reality is, they are simply trying to force a radical energy shift in our nation by blocking us from harnessing the wonderful, abundant resources our nation possesses.

An effort led by Wyoming Republican U.S. Rep. Harriet Hageman to block the Bureau of Land Management’s controversial Rock Springs Resource Management Plan gained traction Thursday when the U.S. House passed her amendment to that effect.
Some Sweetwater County elected officials told Cowboy State Daily that they are thrilled with the House vote.
The House passed the amendment offered by Hageman to the Interior Appropriations bill that prohibits the finalization of the draft Rock Springs Resource Management Plan, according to a press release from Hageman’s office.
When conservatives warned normal people that the rabid left was coming for our hamburgers, Democrats and the media mocked the idea, even though there was good reason for the alarm.
Water is, and has always been, the key to the West. As communities grow and cyclical precipitation patterns ebb and flow, we should focus on developing more water storage that are managed at the local and state level. Local officials understand the needs of agriculture, industrial, and commercial stakeholders better than anyone in Washington, D.C., and I'm proud to continually working to transfer Bureau of Reclamation projects to local communities while reducing government control over our water resources.
The Freely Associated States of Palau, the Marshall Islands, and the Federated States of Micronesia are valuable, longstanding partners of the United States. Renewing the Compacts of Free Association, or COFA, is a vital piece of legislation that provides these microstates with economic resources and national security funding while giving the US the ability to deter Chinese aggression in the Pacific and readily assist our allies in the region.
The federal government must be held responsible to ensure abundant, affordable energy is available for all Americans, and the development of this energy is key component of American tribes' economic success. 30% of America's coal reserves west of the Mississippi River lie on tribal lands, but the actions of the Biden Administration have locked out these tribes from harnessing the resources to provide affordable power and economic investment in their communities.
