Natural Resources
As an attorney, I fought to return control of natural resources to local entities, not far-away federal bureaucrats. I am honored to serve on the Natural Resources committee to continue this work from the halls of Congress. I also have the privilege of chairing the Subcommittee on Indian and Insular Affairs, working with tribal and territorial leaders on issues important to their communities.

Washington, DC— Congresswoman Harriet Hageman reintroduced the No Net Gain in Federal Lands Act, the PASTURES Act, and legislation to repeal the SUSTAINS Act to protect Wyoming’s landowners and preserve the fundamental constitutional right to own and manage private property.
Washington, DC—Congresswoman Harriet Hageman reintroduced a NEPA reform bill, the Expression of Interest Sensibility Act, and the Expedited Appeals Review Act protect Wyoming’s energy industries and landowners. These bills are reintroductions which target federal regulations and administrative processes that stifle energy production, mineral leasing, and property rights essential to Wyoming’s economy.
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Harriet Hageman announced the reintroduction of the Grizzly Bear State Management Act, legislation that directs the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to delist the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE) grizzly bear from the endangered species list. This effort marks a bold step by Congress to counteract years of federal lethargy and wildlife policy dictated by special-interest lobbyists under the Biden Administration.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) declined petitions from Wyoming and Montana to delist grizzly bears as endangered despite the animals’ population boom becoming a threat for ranchers.
The agency delivered the ruling Wednesday, frustrating House Republicans who’ve urged the Biden administration to eliminate protections on the bears which have more than doubled their recovery goals for delisting.
Washington, DC – Representative Harriet Hageman condemned the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) for today’s arbitrary decision to refuse to delist the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE) and Northern Continental Divide Ecosystem (NCDE) grizzly bear populations. Rather than delisting the grizzly as local authorities have advocated, FWS has proposed creating a single Distinct Population Segment (DPS) that combines all six recovery zones, including those well outside of the GYE.
Washington, DC – Today,Congresswoman Harriet Hageman introduced two pieces of legislation to halt the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Buffalo and Rock Springs Resource Management Plans (RMPs). The RMPs amount to a federal land lockout, shutting down over 11 million acres of Wyoming’s public lands by reclassifying multiple-use management as non-use or restricted access.
The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Buffalo and Rock Springs Resource Management Plans (RMP) are a direct attack on Wyoming’s heritage, economy, and the livelihoods of the hardworking men and women who call this great state home.
Although the Biden-Harris administration’s wrongheaded policies will be felt most acutely by Wyoming, the entire country ultimately suffers when our leaders pursue an agenda that is intended to further energy poverty and limit our food choices.
Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Harriet Hageman introduced legislation to protect Wyoming’s energy industry and jobs from the federal government’s continued weaponization of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Congresswoman Hageman’s bill automatically disqualifies certain decisions from being classified as “major federal actions” under NEPA to ensure that new coal, critical mineral, and fluid mineral leases are not subject to disproportionately onerous NEPA requirements.
