Natural Resources
As an attorney, I fought to return control of natural resources to local entities, not far-away federal bureaucrats. I am honored to serve on the Natural Resources committee to continue this work from the halls of Congress. I also have the privilege of chairing the Subcommittee on Indian and Insular Affairs, working with tribal and territorial leaders on issues important to their communities.
More on Natural Resources
Washington, D.C. – Today, Representative Harriet Hageman introduced a bill to repeal the SUSTAINS Act, a misguided law empowering non-governmental actors to exercise authority over USDA conservation programs while pushing the 30x30 agenda’s use of natural capital accounting for evaluating the value of private lands.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressional Western Caucus Chairman Dan Newhouse (WA-04) and Rep. Russ Fulcher (ID-01) released the following statements celebrating the passage of H.R.1449 – Committing Leases for Energy Access Now Act (CLEAN Act). This legislation requires the Department of the Interior (DOI) to increase lease sales under the Geothermal Steam Act of 1970 and establishes deadlines to consider geothermal drilling permits. The bill passed by a bipartisan vote of 244-171.
Washington, D.C. - Today, House Committee on Natural Resources Chairman Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.) hosted a historic tribal roundtable with representatives of five tribes from across the nation to discuss health care, public safety and economic development issues in Indian Country.
For our federal government, and regardless of the issue, “the sky’s the limit.” Applying this adage to ownership of real property “out west” is well-known, which is why I have introduced the No Net Gain in Federal Lands Act of 2024.
Washington, DC - Congresswoman Harriet Hageman joined with Senators Mike Lee (R-UT), Mitt Romney (R-UT), and Representatives John Curtis, (UT-03), Celeste Maloy (UT-02), Blake Moore (UT-01) and Burgess Owens (UT-04) in filing an amicus brief advocating that the Supreme Court hear the complaint in Utah v U.S., the case challenging the federal government’s ownership of unappropriated land in Utah.

Wyoming’s lone member of Congress said she’s heartbroken over the devastating wildfires that have burned more than 600,000 acres across the Cowboy State this fire season.
That includes her family’s Hartville homestead that burned in the 29,000-acre Pleasant Valley Fire.
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Harriet Hageman introduced legislation that would require the Bureau of Reclamation to analyze the economic consequences of drawing from the customer-funded Basin Fund to implement the experimental actions called for in the July 2024 SEIS Record of Decision – which would result in Reclamation having to incorporate these costs into its annual budgeting.
