Congresswoman Hageman Praises the VALID Act’s Inclusion in the Senate’s ROAD to Housing Act

Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Harriet Hageman (WY-AL) praised the Veterans Affairs Loan Informed Disclosure (VALID) Act’s inclusion in the Senate’s ROAD to Housing Act, which recently advanced out of the Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee. Congresswoman Hageman co-led this bipartisan legislation with Representative Brittany Pettersen (CO-7) to improve the homebuying process for veterans by ensuring they are fully informed about the benefits of VA home loans alongside FHA and conventional loans.
“Veterans have sacrificed so much to protect our freedoms, and it is our responsibility to ensure they fully benefit from the programs designed to support them,” said Congresswoman Hageman. “The inclusion of the VALID Act in the ROAD to Housing Act is a critical step toward making the homebuying process more transparent and accessible for veterans. By clearly informing them of the advantages of VA home loans alongside other options, we empower our veterans to make the best financial decisions for their futures.”
Currently, only 10 to 15 percent of eligible veterans utilize VA home loans, despite their potential to save thousands of dollars over the life of a mortgage. The VALID Act updates Federal Housing Administration (FHA) mortgage disclosures to include VA home loan options and ensures lenders receive vital information about a borrower’s military service early in the application process. This change will help veterans compare loan options side-by-side and choose the most advantageous path to homeownership.
