WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congresswoman Harriet Hageman joined Speaker Mike Johnson, Majority Leader Steve Scalise, Majority Whip Tom Emmer, and members of the Republican Study Committee (RSC), including Chairman August Pfluger, to address the ongoing Democrat-led government shutdown, now in its 30th day.

Congresswoman Hageman stood with her colleagues in urging Senate Democrats to stop using the American people as leverage for their far-left policy demands and to advance the House-passed clean continuing resolution that would immediately reopen the government, pay our troops, restore federal services, and protect essential programs such as SNAP and WIC.

“Wyoming federal employees, small business owners, and families are feeling the pain of this shutdown, pain caused entirely by Democrat obstruction,” said Congresswoman Hageman. “House Republicans did our job. We passed a responsible bill to fund the government and ensure critical services continue. Meanwhile, Senate Democrats are holding our government hostage to push radical, wasteful spending that benefits illegal aliens and foreign programs rather than our own citizens. Enough is enough. It is time to put the American people first, reopen the government, and get back to work.”

House Republicans also highlighted:

  • Senate Democrats voted 13 times to keep the government closed.
  • The shutdown caused missed paychecks for federal workers and delays across the transportation system, including thousands of flight delays nationwide.
  • By this weekend, 42 million Americans are projected to lose their SNAP benefits if Democrats continue to block reopening legislation.
