Is the DOJ coercing financial institutions to allow illegal aliens to take out loans?
Back in October, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Department of Justice issued a warning to banks and financial institutions that they may be subject to prosecution if they rely "unnecessarily" on someone's status as an illegal alien when deciding to provide a financial loan, claiming that this is akin to discrimination on race, color, or national origin. This inference is not only without legal basis, but blatantly contradicts provisions in the Equal Credit Opportunity Act that allow consideration of immigration status as a factor in such decisions.
I believe this thinly veiled threat disguised as "guidance" is nothing more than an attempt to intimidate our financial institutions. For a month, my letter to the CFPB and DOJ requesting clarification on this guidance has gone unanswered, and as such I took the opportunity to question Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clark on this attempt to perpetuate President Biden's open border agenda through manipulating our country's banks.
