Protecting Americans from Energy Poverty

December 12, 2023

Americans are suffering under the growing burden of expensive energy. This crisis, directly caused by the Biden Administration, is forcing some families to have to choose between putting food on the table, gas in their cards, or heat in their homes, all because of the vilifying of fossil fuels and pursuit of radical, unachievable climate goals.

My bill, the Energy Poverty Prevention and Accountability Act, will provide much needed relief for America's most vulnerable communities and create oversight and transparency into the actions of federal agencies that increase the strain on at-risk communities.

Another bill of mine, will reform the expression of interest fee process for oil and gas projects. Companies with inactive leases due to the Biden Administration's failure (or refusal) to act will be able to recover the expenses paid to the Bureau of Land Management while also extending the term that their EOI fees are valid from 3 years to 5 years. We should not force companies to pay for a service they do not receive, and this overdue reform will incentivize the BLM to resume it's duty of providing leases, as they will no longer get paid otherwise.
