The Supertruck program has been co-opted from improving fuel economy to eliminating fuel altogether
October 26, 2023
When the Department of Energy first created its Supertruck program, it had an admirable and achievable goal of increasing fuel efficiency for America's long-haul and heavy trucks. Yet the latest iteration of this program radically departs from this goal; instead, it seeks to electrify these vehicles and lower greenhouse gas emissions.
Taxpayer dollars shouldn't be used to fund the green bad deal's pipe dreams; instead, such a project will drastically jack up the price of new vehicles, and those costs will inevitably be passed onto consumers through the supply chain. My amendment would have prevented this program from continuing.
