What really is causing whales to die? Hint: it's not small fishing boats.
June 6, 2023
Instead of admitting fault and acknowledging the deadly impact of offshore wind farms on marine life, NOAA bureaucrats are deflecting blame onto recreational boaters, commercial and charter fishermen, and the maritime transportation industry.
In an effort to "save the whales" from being injured, NOAA now seeks to restrict all boat speeds, regardless of size, draft, distance, and purpose. Not only is it absurd to equate the risk from a small leisure craft to a cargo ship, but such a rule threatens to decimate the entire recreational boating and charter fishing industries and puts property and lives at extreme risk during inclement weather and offshore storms.
