Wyoming’s farmers and ranchers feed the nation. Growing up as the fourth generation of Wyoming ranchers just outside of Ft. Laramie, I know the challenges the Wyoming agriculture community faces on a daily basis. These challenges, however, are unnecessarily complicated by bad Washington, D.C. policies, put in place by bureaucrats who lack real world experience.
This can be seen through the abuse of the Endangered Species Act, attempts to implement the harmful Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule, the ongoing effort to mandate electronic identification (EID) tracking of our livestock, and so many more. Affordable and reliable food, a pillar of modern U.S. success, is threatened through such policies. As your representative, I continue to work every day for the values and policies that will benefit our agriculture industry and which ensure the food security Americans deserve and have come to expect.

Rapid City, SD – Today, Congresswoman Hageman spoke to livestock producers from South Dakota, Wyoming and the region to discuss the truth behind mandatory electronic identification (EID) eartags.
An emerging and dangerous issue which should be of concern to everyone in the Western U.S. is the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) implementation of the Sustainability Targets in Agriculture to Incentivize Natural Solutions (SUSTAINS) Act of 2021.
The USDA’s news release on this bill notes the SUSTAINS Act will use private donations to “expand implementation of conservation practices to sequester carbon, improve wildlife habitat, protect sources of drinking water and address other natural resource priorities.”

The letter was cosigned by Reps. Fulcher (ID-01), Rosendale (MT-02), Stauber (MN-08), and Zinke (MT-01).
Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Harriet Hageman sent a letter to Terry Cosby, Chief of the Natural Resources Conservation Service, in response to a request for information regarding implementation of the Sponsoring USDA Sustainability Targets in Agriculture to Incentivize Natural Solutions (SUSTAINS) Act. Implementation of this Act must not infringe on the rights of landowners and is not manipulated as a tool for our adversaries.
