Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Harriet Hageman voted in favor of H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act of 2023. This comprehensive legislation incorporates critical policies important to ending the illegal immigrant crisis on our southern border. It is a crisis that is directly the result of the failed policies and lack of enforcement by the Biden Administration - President Biden issued 94 executive orders related to the border within his first 100 days in office.

Today, the Subcommittee on Indian and Insular Affairs held a hearing to examine the fiscal year 2024 budget request for the Indian Health Service (IHS). Subcommittee Chair Harriet Hageman (R-Wyo.) issued the following statement in response:

ROCK SPRINGS — During a town hall meeting in Rock Springs last Friday, Wyoming Congresswoman Harriet Hageman recounted the work that has been done toward energy independence and security.
“As far as some of the bills that I have been working on, one of the ones that I am very, very interested in cosponsoring is H.R.1,” Hageman said.
H.R.1 — Lower Energy Costs Act provides for the “exploration, importation and exportation of energy resources,” such oil, gas and minerals, according to Congress.gov.

KEMMERER — Congresswoman Harriet Hageman spoke to citizens of Lincoln County on Friday, May 5, at the BOCES center. She began the meeting with the message that “Members of congress need to take power back, so we are the ones setting the agenda, not leadership.”
Hageman gave updates on the latest congressional session and said there were important changes being made.
“We are now amending bills from the floor,” she said. “The process has been working well. I have introduced six or seven bills and co-sponsored almost 70 bills.”

During her recent town hall meetings in Lincoln and Sweetwater counties, she recapped some of her latest developments in Congress.
Hageman was chosen as the Co-Chair for the 118th Congressional Coal Caucus.
As part of that, Hagemen is co-sponsoring H.R.1, the Lower Energy Costs Act.
The bill combines legislation that focuses on America’s energy independence.

Diamondville, WY – On Friday, May 5th, Congresswoman Harriet Hageman will host her fourth and fifth town hall meetings of this district work period. These town halls will be the 17th and 18th in Harriet’s first four months in Congress.

Evanston, WY – Thursday evening, May 4th, Congresswoman Harriet Hageman will host her third town hall meeting of this district work period. The Uinta County town hall will be the 16th in Harriet’s first four months in Congress.

The Bureau of Land Management opened a public comment period this week on an environmental review of federal leasing of thermal coal. It’s an early step in a long process that’s needed if a federal moratorium on leasing is to be lifted, which will be required for long-term coal production in Wyoming.

Legislators met with local officials and business leaders to talk energy and strategize Tuesday.
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, R-La, gathered seven Republican Congressmembers to tour the Gulf, and met with members of the Greater Lafourche Port Commission, Parish Presidents, South Central Industrial Association and other energy sector leaders. The gathering is an annual affair held by Scalise and this year they discussed and refined political arguments for promoting an overarching energy infrastructure agenda.
