With the cost of energy weighing on Americans, a GOP-led House panel considered a bill Tuesday that takes aim at the Biden administration’s green energy agenda, blaming it for rising energy costs.

“I believe that this administration is furthering energy poverty as an affirmative policy for the purpose of controlling human behavior and pursuing a radical climate agenda," said Wyoming GOP Rep. Harriet Hageman, who is sponsoring the bill in the House Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources.

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Harriet Hageman announced that she will be voting NO on an upcoming vote to pass the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Hageman was chosen to be a conferee in negotiations between the House and Senate that was designed to work through differences between each chamber’s version of the bill. Unfortunately, Rep. Hageman was not actually consulted on any of the areas within the jurisdiction of her assignment.

U.S. Rep. Harriet Hageman believes President Joe Biden’s administration is “hell-bent” on killing American energy independence.

On Tuesday, she reacted to the Biden administration’s recent commitment to not build any more new coal plants and shut down existing ones by 2035.

“Yet another move by a Biden administration hell-bent on ending our energy independence,” she posted on X. “Coal will be needed for generations to come.”

Wyoming’s only Representative in the U.S. House, Harriet Hageman, has served in Congress for almost a year. In that time, Republicans have struggled to maintain their leadership and have fiercely debated government funding and American involvement in foreign conflicts. Wyoming Public Radio’s Will Walkey spoke with Hageman about her reflections about her tenure so far, as well as what issues she’s focusing on in the new year.

Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Harriet Hageman responded to the announcement of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that will result in extensive investment in Wyoming’s uranium industry. The agreement will result in increased uranium development and enrichment by Uranium Energy Corp’s Wyoming-based operations for the TerraPower Natrium reactor currently being built in Kemmerer, WY.
