During our recent Water, Wildlife, and Fisheries subcommittee hearing, my colleagues and I discussed multiple bills that address the way in which water is allotted, stored, and paid for.

Water is a scarce and valuable resource in the West. We must incentivize the creation of more water storage projects to ensure as much water is captured and preserved as possible while also reducing needless red tape and ancillary costs that stifle these much needed projects

The REINS Act is sound, sensible legislation. Yet even a good bill like the REINS Act can be undermined as long as loopholes around it exist.

My amendment, which passed by voice, ends President Biden's executive order that grants exceptional leeway to his administration to determine what counts as a "major rule"; by preventing the Administrative State from shifting the standards for consideration, we will ensure greater transparency, less governmental abuse, and more Congressional approval of executive actions.

For too long, unelected officials in the Administrative State have adopted regulations and guidance documents that cost our nation billions of dollars, all without Congressional input or approval. Congress is the body tasked with legislating in our nation, and it's time that we restore Congress' ability and right to perform it's constitutional duties.

America's territories and compacts with the Freely-Associated States in the Pacific are critical to America's ability to ensure freedom of navigation and project power throughout one of the world's most important shipping and geopolitical areas.

In order to ensure global economic security and regional stability, it is vital that we strengthen our partnerships and forward-deployed assets in the face of growing Chinese ambition

In a move reminiscent of pages cut from George Orwell's 1984, the federal government wants to prevent Americans from buying gas stoves, with the ultimate goal of cutting off gas supplies to households completely.

Gas stoves are preferred by 38% of households and used by 75% of American restaurants due to their affordability and efficiency. Yet once again, the Biden Administration claims to know what is best for our individual lives, stripping us of the ability to make everyday decisions on our own.

Roughly 85% of our nation's meat flows through the "Big 4" meat packers. As meat prices rose over 12% from 2021 to 2022 (well above the overall inflation rate), these conglomerates have recorded record profits of 32-91% higher, cementing their monopoly and suppressing smaller, local companies.

This week, the Indian and Insular Affairs subcommittee heard testimony on 6 different legislative proposals that fall under the jurisdiction of my subcommittee. While the content of these bills varies greatly, the intent is the same: righting long-standing errors, oversights, and wrongs committed by the federal government, creating space and opportunity for healing, and honoring those who have suffered. One of the unique ideals of America is the ability to admit and own our past mistakes and find a way to move forward, to continue to pursue the concept of a "more perfect Union".

The Equal Access to Justice Act was intended to help plaintiffs recoup litigation costs from successful suits and settlements with the federal government.

While a noble concept, it has been weaponized by environmental activists to receive de facto funding from federal agencies partial to their cause, handicapping efforts to open up access to national resources and giving activists additional funds to continue their stonewalling tactics.

Instead of admitting fault and acknowledging the deadly impact of offshore wind farms on marine life, NOAA bureaucrats are deflecting blame onto recreational boaters, commercial and charter fishermen, and the maritime transportation industry.
